We have finished the half term by looking at all of the different animals we have learnt about. We have compared where they live, what they look like and thought about what they need. The children have been amazing this half term and have all made such a lot of progress. We hope you all have a very happy half term holiday and look forward to seeing you when we come back to school.
Minibeasts continued……
This week we have continued learning about Minibeasts. The children have had great fun going on a minibeast hunt and building a bug hotel. FS2 have been working really hard in maths, focusing on learning their number bonds. FS1 are also working hard with their numbers.
Minibeasts
Another great week in Foundation Stage. We have been learning about Minibeasts as well as enjoying lots of outdoor fun. I would like to say a very big well done to all the children who read at least 3 times last week, it was huge increase from the week before. Please keep it up as it helps your children enormously. We also really appreciate the sponsor money that has come into school this week for our outdoor area, thank you so much.
Sea Creatures
Another fabulous week in Foundation Stage! We have been learning about sea creatures and thinking about animal habitats. FS2 children have written some amazing sentences and FS1 are doing a great job at trying to write the letters of the alphabet. Please could week ask for a big push on home reading for FS2. We would love it if you could read with your child and record it in their diary at least 3 times a week. We are seeing such a difference with the children who read regularly. Thanks so much for your support with this.
Pets
This week we have continues our ‘Animals’ theme by learning all about pets. The children have talked about their own pets, looked at things pets need and where they live. They made their own dogs and tortoises and explored pet accessories in our Curiosity Corner. The FS2 children are doing amazingly well at writing sentences and lots are reading 3 times a week at home. The impact of reading at home is enormous so please try your best to read as often as possible! We also started our running around the track to raise money for our new outside area, the children are thoroughly enjoying this, thank you for your support.
Jungle Animals
Welcome back to you all. We have had a brilliant start to the new term. This half term our theme is ‘Animals’ and this week we have focused on the jungle. We have made giraffes, snakes and lions. The weather has been great for lots of outside fun too!
Easter
We have ended the term learning all about Easter. The children have listened to the Easter story, sorted eggs by colour, decorated eggs, been on an egg hunt around the classroom and so much more! They also thoroughly enjoyed the disco and their dance moves were amazing! We hope you all have a lovely Easter break.
Supertato
The children have loved reading the Supertato stories this week! They have written about the Evil Pea, done some vegetable printing, designed their own super vegetables and so much more. We are still working really hard on our reading and well done to all the children who managed to read at home at least 3 times last week! Keep it up!
Jasper’s Beanstalk
We have continued our theme of growing this week. The children have enjoyed listening to the story Jasper’s Beanstalk. They have loved making flowers and gardens as well as lots of junk modelling! We are really focussing on our reading in FS2 and the children are doing very well. Please can we ask all children to read at home at least 3 times a a week and for you to record this in their reading diary. Practise at home is so important to help the children become fluent readers.
The Enormous Turnip
Another fabulous week in Foundation Stage. This week has focused on the story of The Enormous Turnip. The children have retold the story with stick puppets, used cotton buds to paint their own turnips and explored various different vegetables. They also have done a great job doing observational drawings of daffodils and collaged their own flowers.
