We have had a fabulous first few days of the school year and would like to say a huge welcome to you all. The children have all settled so well and are very enthusiastic. They have loved exploring the classroom and making friends. We so impressed at how quickly they are learning our classroom routines.
This week we have been learning about the seaside and going on holiday. The children have loved chatting about their own holiday and day out experiences and have thoroughly enjoyed all the classroom activities. They have also loved sports week, particularly enjoying boules and bat and ball. They have had a go at a wide range of different sporting activities and had great fun dancing at the disco!
We have had a great week exploring different types of transport. We have painted, drawn, built Lego vehicles, made traffic lights and compared transport now to types of transport from the past.
This week we have been reading the story Handa’s Surprise. We have made our own baskets and African necklaces. In the maths area we have been counting and weighing fruit. FS2 children are working incredibly hard on their RWI lessons and this hard work is showing brilliant results when they are in the writing area.
This week we have been reading the story My Granny went to Market and learning about different countries in the world. We have talked about and done lots of tasks related to the different things Granny bought on her travels. The children particularly enjoyed sorting Russian dolls and making magic carpets!
This week we have been learning about the world, the continents and flags!
We have had a super last week of the half term and continued learning about Minibeasts. The children have made ladybirds, bees and butterflies. They have created patterns with Minibeasts and played Minibeasts games. We have made spider biscuits The weather has also been kind to us, so we’ve had fun learning outside. We wish you all a safe and happy half term holiday and look forward to seeing you all back afterwards for the final few weeks of the school year.
Another fun week in Foundation Stage! This time reading the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and starting to look at Minibeasts. The children have loved making caterpillars and butterflies and had a great time exploring outside, looking for Minibeasts!
This week we have been learning all about sea creatures and have loved sharing Commotion in the Ocean and The Rainbow Fish story. We have made seahorses, jelly fishes and decorated the Rainbow Fish. Both FS1 and FS2 have been working really hard on their RWI lessons. Well done to the FS2 children who have read at home 3 times this week, let’s all aim to do it next week!
