FS2 have been writing a list of what they would take in their rocket to the moon. Just like baby bear in the story Whatever Next by Jill Murphy.
This week we have celebrated birthdays! We have talked about when the children’s birthdays are and what we do to celebrate them. The children have made play dough cup cakes, painted balloons, made party hats and so much more!
This week we have looked at the book Incredible You and talked about how amazing all the children are. They have told each other about things they are good at and also what they would like to be! We had a lot of unicorns, footballers and dinosaurs in the class this week!!
The children have had a super week. We have talked about growing up and the things they can now do that they couldn’t do when they were babies and things that they’ll be able to do when they get bigger. They have made paper chains, collaged faces and drawn self portraits. The weather hasn’t been very kind to us but we have still managed to get outside and they have loved joining in circle games. We have also started teaching Read Write Inc lessons to FS2 and they have made a fantastic start. If all children in FS2 could keep practising writing their name at home that would be amazing.
We have had a super week getting to know our classroom and each other. The children have loved painting, collaging, playing in the sand and water. They have also been so enthusiastic to learn new songs.
We have had a fabulous first few days of the school year and would like to say a huge welcome to you all. The children have all settled so well and are very enthusiastic. They have loved exploring the classroom and making friends. We so impressed at how quickly they are learning our classroom routines.
This week we have been learning about the seaside and going on holiday. The children have loved chatting about their own holiday and day out experiences and have thoroughly enjoyed all the classroom activities. They have also loved sports week, particularly enjoying boules and bat and ball. They have had a go at a wide range of different sporting activities and had great fun dancing at the disco!
We have had a great week exploring different types of transport. We have painted, drawn, built Lego vehicles, made traffic lights and compared transport now to types of transport from the past.
This week we have been reading the story Handa’s Surprise. We have made our own baskets and African necklaces. In the maths area we have been counting and weighing fruit. FS2 children are working incredibly hard on their RWI lessons and this hard work is showing brilliant results when they are in the writing area.
