We are so proud of the children this week, they did such an amazing job learning their lines and songs for the play and performed with so much confidence, a big well done to each and every one of them. They have also enjoyed continuing their maths and phonics work as well as exploring all the classroom activities. The Rudolph headbands were a particular hit this week! We look forward to our final week of Christmas fun next week before a well earned break for all the children.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas….
We have had so much fun in the classroom this week as we start our focus on Christmas. The children have counted snowballs, made snowflakes and baubles, drawn snowmen and drawn and labelled stockings for Santa. They have loved playing as elves in the home corner and have been so excited to see what our naughty elf has been up to each morning!
The Gruffalo
This week we have loved reading the story of The Gruffalo. We have made some of the animals, pegged spikes on the Gruffalo’s back, and used pasta and play dough to make hedgehogs for in the wood. The children are also working incredibly hard on practising the Christmas play. If your child has lines to say please could you help them to learn them at home.
More Diwali fun!
We have continued learning about Diwali this week. The children have thoroughly enjoyed making diya lamps, following firework trails and using numicon to make rangoli patterns. We also tasted curry and popadoms, the children particularly enjoyed the popadoms!!
Diwali
This week we have been learning about Diwali. We have made Diwali coconut sweets and eaten them, used plastic piping bags and paint to create mehndi patterns and made rangoli patterns with both rice and play dough.
Welcome back!
It is lovely to see all of the children again after half term. They have all settled back into our classroom routines very well. We have continued learning about Autumn and the seasons this week. The children have decorated trees according to the season, made hedgehogs out of play dough, finger painted Autumn trees and so much more.
Autumn
We have had a great last week of the half term. The children loved hunting for leaves and conkers outside as well as having a leaf hunt in the classroom. Our fundraising morning went very well and we would like to thank you so much for coming to support us and your children.
Feelings
This week we have been exploring feelings using the books, The colour Monster and Elmer.
We have completed lots of fun activities and learnt lots about colours.
Families
This week we have been exploring who is in our family, making family trees and completing lots of matching and sorting activities such as pairing up socks and sorting bears by colour and size.
FS2 have been writing a list of what they would take in their rocket to the moon. Just like baby bear in the story Whatever Next by Jill Murphy.
Birthdays!
This week we have celebrated birthdays! We have talked about when the children’s birthdays are and what we do to celebrate them. The children have made play dough cup cakes, painted balloons, made party hats and so much more!
